You play the hands you are dealt, if you're holding a 'high card' it's unlikely you will end up winning the hand. But what if you were sitting on a 'full house' yet decide to fold primarily because you had no idea a full house would win you the hand?

This metaphor is indicative of life with synaesthesia.

The propensity for learning; primarily academic, involving abstract concepts such as math and language comes naturally & its links to high-functioning Autism & Asperger's has been studied by psychologists & neuroscientists a-like. Being able to utilise some of the unique abilities that come with the condition can better assist people in finding their inner talents & perhaps even blossom in academic circles.

As a synesthete myself I will discuss some of the barriers faced in traditional academic learning & how synaesthesia can in a way be used as a ''cheat-code'' in memorizing and grasping complex mathematical & linguistic concepts.
